Imani’s Cyber Fantasy

An “OTHERWORLDLY” 3D Art Project

Imani's Cyber Fantasy explores an alternate, futuristic world captured through my camera lens.

It's a fusion of imaginative storytelling and visual artistry, fueled by a mix of Afrofuturism aesthetics and cyberpunk elements.

This multimedia venture encompasses a diverse range of creative outlets, including virtual 3D art galleries, real-life art exhibitions, engaging social media campaigns, collaborative music projects, and vibrant vendor markets.

3D Art Experiences

On September 1st, 2022, I unveiled my interpretation of an alternative, futuristic, cyber Dallas starting with a 3D digital art experience.

Using images a mix of images I captured between 2020 to 2021 for my #blackseries project, I crafted a surreal portrayal of the city, showcased within a virtual 3D art gallery accessible to audiences worldwide. To enhance the immersive experience, the gallery featured music by local artist WslySaint, aligning with the overall theme.

Continuing the trend, another 3D gallery debuted on May 4th, 2023, presenting a redesigned art space accompanied by a curated song mix by DJ Cozy Campos.

Inspiration

This ongoing project draws inspiration from short films like Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and Solange Knowles's "When I Get Home," along with anime series such as "Cowboy Bebop" and "Demon Slayer," as well as movies like "The Matrix" and "Tron: Legacy."

Imani’s Cyber Fantasy also draws inspiration from the digital realm and utilizes social media for both promotional and artistic expression.

Origins

Imani's Cyber Fantasy, released in 2022, traces its roots back to the 2020 #blackseries project. This earlier work, a broader exploration of color through landscapes, cityscapes, and portraits, laid the groundwork for what would become Imani's Cyber Fantasy.

The 2021 #blackseries, released on December 12th, further refined my approach and became a significant milestone in my photographic journey. While Imani's Cyber Fantasy ultimately surpassed it in scope, the 2021 project remains a crucial component of the overall narrative.

Imani's Cyber Fantasy began as a curated collection of work from 2020 and 2021, cohesively woven into a single story. However, the story didn't end there. In 2023, I expanded the project to include a new chapter titled 'Somewhere Between Dallas and Denver.'

Captured in August 2022, these images showcase the breathtaking landscapes of Oklahoma and New Mexico along the route from Dallas to Denver. They were added to Imani's Cyber Fantasy in August 2023, further enriching the overall narrative.
