Hello! I’m Imani Black. I’m a visual storyteller based in Dallas, TX. My passion for photography and videography began in my hometown of Fayetteville, NC, where I saved up for digital cameras and experimented with my family’s gear. What started as a hobby soon evolved into a deep love for capturing stories through images and video.
I earned my B.A. in Journalism with a focus on Strategic Communications (Advertising) from the University of North Texas. Since 2017, I’ve been professionally pursuing my craft, building my brand through projects like the #blackseries (2017) and Day With Dallas (2018). These projects were a way for me to discover myself, showcase my work, and uplift other creatives. They allowed me to not only establish my voice but also create a space that empowered others to share their stories.
My accomplishments have been recognized with awards, and I’ve even had the honor of being featured on a banner in Deep Ellum. I’ve also had the privilege of collaborating with notable clients such as Sony, the State Fair of Texas, the Arbor Day Foundation, La Roche-Posay, and more.
As a Black woman, I take great pride in the diversity of my work. I’m passionate about highlighting the beauty of all skin tones and ensuring my subjects are represented authentically. My photography and videography go beyond just images and videos. They’re about capturing the essence of the people and communities I work with, focusing on their unique beauty and stories.
When I’m not behind the lens, I enjoy spending time with my family, visiting art galleries, painting, exercising, and being outdoors. These activities keep me inspired and grounded in the things that bring me joy and energy.
