#blackseries

Founded in 2017.

The #blackseries is a creative expression project. It started as a simple photography showcase that debuted on VSCO as an ode, through my lens, to the people in my life. The series has evolved into a timeless, highly-anticipated project with events, videos, and products.

This project has also been hosted in multiple galleries such as Trinity Cider in 2019 and 2021 and Kettle Art in 2021 and 2022 (see gallery placements below).

About the Slogan.

“You can wear any color as long as it’s black.”

The slogan for the series was influenced by the color of attire the models are required to wear when participating in the project each year. The black wardrobe - inspired by my name, Imani Black - creates a visually pleasing, cohesive display of work.
