Anti-AirPods Post
AirPods 2.
3 days.
3 reasons.
I’m a hardcore Apple fan. I will never buy an Android phone. I used to say I would never buy a PC over a Mac, but idk - these modern PC’s are really catching up in quality...But I still prefer Apple everything. I had been contemplating about getting AirPods for a month and a half. So this wasn’t necessarily an impulsive decision. Last Saturday, I finally decided to take that leap into Bluetooth Apple heaven...or so I thought.
Reasons why I returned my AirPods this Tuesday:
UTILITY - I couldn't work out with AirPods because I was fidgeting with my ears the entire time. Even while walking at a regular pace anywhere, the AirPods were slipping out my ear. I purchased grips for the ear buds, but decided I didn’t want to ruin my user experience by having to put the grips on and take them off every time I used the charging case. Apple is so kind to give iPhone users their standard wired headphones with every phone purchase. You remember the ones that aided this Bluetooth headphones frenzy with the death of the headphone jack? I’ve never been a fan of those to start because they don’t stay in my ears, but I thought it was because the wire was always getting caught or tugged somehow. Maybe it’s just the Apple design that my ears do not agree with.
SOUND QUALITY - The standard Apple earbuds are not of superior sound quality. But what do you expect, they’re just standard everyday $20 (that’s laughable too) headphones. AirPods must have been bred with this idea in mind minus the cord because these $150> headphones have the same sound quality as the standard iPhone earbuds. If I pay for headphones over $40, I need the quality to be on par as well. It seemed like a ripoff.
PRICE - I didn’t give the AirPods much time to get settled into my lifestyle because they were not user-friendly. What’s the point of $150 Bluetooth earbuds that don’t stay in your ear, need extra pieces that MIGHT help - but will ruin the ease of charging, and sound quality is on par with $20 headphones? Thank goodness Best Buy has a 14 day return policy. I only needed three to figure out that this AIN’T it.
Overall, I have to say, AirPods are trash.
I really wanted to like AirPods, but they were not useful for me. Truthfully, I did not need the earbuds, but I thought they would simplify my life somehow. I’m not an earbuds person anyway. I mostly listen to my music through a speaker or my over-the-ear Sony headphones which are phenomenal.
